这个题目,表面看来,似乎很空大而且复杂。(一)因为中国学术界对于东西艺术的构成,根本上同异之处,尚没有定论;(二)对于艺术上历史的观念太少,不能从过去经验中发现将来。有这两种原因,普通总觉得这种问题空泛得很。其实艺术界多数人的心理,总含着中国艺术复兴的希望。但一问到如何复兴?我们对于这个问题便不能不有一种具体的研究。简言之,要了解艺术如何复兴?必先研究艺术是如何构成?其次才能谈到东西两方艺术上根本的异同。
This topic, on the face of it, seems empty and complicated. (A) There is no conclusion as to why the Chinese academics are fundamentally different from one another for the composition of Eastern and Western art; and (2) they have too few ideas about the history of art and can not find out the future from past experience. There are these two reasons, ordinary people think this kind of problem is very vague. In fact, the psychology of the majority in the art world always contains the hope of rejuvenating the Chinese arts. However, when asked how to rejuvenate, we can not but have a concrete study on this issue. In short, to understand how art is revived, we must first study how art is composed, and secondly, we can talk about the fundamental differences and similarities between the two arts.
