杨云史,江苏常熟人,清光绪元年(1875年)生。他21岁起就开始了秘书生涯,先在詹事府任主薄,27岁任户部郎中,邮传部成立之初即调去任秘书。他因毕业于北京同文馆(专攻外文),外部奏到新加坡为领事。杨云史文学造诣很深,被誉为“江东才子”。他的著作在当时极受好评,康有为对他有“绝代江山”的评价。权倾一时的直隶总督李鸿章见杨云史温文尔雅,称赞杨为“杨郎清才”,继而将长孙女嫁给了他。 杨云史34岁时应江西督军陈光远的邀请前往
Yang Yun history, Changshu, Jiangsu, Emperor Guangxu first year (1875) students.
