金圣叹将《水浒传》改为七十回本,使金批《水浒》成为又一片新的文学意境,又一组新的艺术形象。这是对《水浒传》的再创作,是借古讽今、以史为鉴精神的深化和延伸,是对孔子删《诗经》、编《春秋》之史学观、文学观的继承和发展。金圣叹批评《水浒传》又是艺术欣赏的过程,其中有审美的愉悦,也有理论的思索。金圣叹将自己对《水浒传》的独特感受传达给了读者,使金批《水浒》成为中国文学批评史上评点式批评文体的样范。
Jin Shengtan changed “Water Margin” to seventy copies, making the Golden Seal “Water Margin” another yet another new literary mood and another new set of artistic images. This is a re-creation of “Water Margin”. It is borrowed from old irony and deepened and extended from the historical experience of history. It is a continuation and development of Confucius’s view of historiography and literature conception of “The Book of Songs” and the compilation of Spring and Autumn Annals. Jin Shengtan criticized “Outlaws of the Marsh” is the process of artistic appreciation, of which aesthetic pleasure, but also theoretical thinking. Jin Shengtan conveyed his unique feelings about “Water Margin” to the readers and made “Goldwater Margin” the golden adventures of the criticism style in the history of Chinese literary criticism.
