随着现代战争引入新的高、精、尖武器系统,为了最大限度发挥这些尖端武器的效能,联合作战部队必须改善其指挥、控制、通讯和信息传递的能力。由于通讯在作战中起极其重要的作用,因此敌方指望进行一场较大规模的电子战攻势来破坏这些通讯系统。在这种攻势下,电缆通讯在作战中具有独有的可靠性,是一种有效的通讯办法。目前的战术电缆系统比如用 CX-11230双线金属电缆互相联接起来的电缆系统,在作战环境下并不能满足高机动性、快速敷设、高可靠性和强生存能力的要求。为此,陆军己开始进行大规模的工程发展计划,拟采用光纤电缆来作为解决上述金属电缆那些不足之处的一种办法。该计划称之为长通讯距离光纤传输系统,缩写为FOTS(LH)。
With modern warfare introducing new high, sophisticated and sophisticated weapon systems, in order to maximize the effectiveness of these cutting-edge weapons, the Joint Forces must improve their command, control, communications and information transfer capabilities. Since communications plays an extremely important role in combat operations, the enemy is counting on a larger e-war campaign to sabotage these communications systems. Under this kind of offensive, the cable communication has the unique reliability in the battle, it is an effective communication method. Current tactical cable systems, such as the cable systems interconnected with the CX-11230 two-wire metal cable, do not meet the requirements of high maneuverability, rapid deployment, high reliability and survivability in operational environments. To this end, the Army has embarked on a large-scale engineering development plan to introduce optical fiber cables as a solution to the shortcomings of the above metal cables. The program calls it a long distance optical fiber transmission system, abbreviated FOTS (LH).
