用电镀工艺制造金刚石钻头虽然在国外文献中报道得较早,但真正在工业规模上成功地使用,还是我国首先突破的。由于这种制造工艺流程简单,适于制造各种复杂唇面形状的钻头,并且是在室温条件下进行电化学反应,所以对金刚石无热损害现象。而且金刚石在电化学作用下,在胎体金属上包嵌牢固。因而,电镀钻头具有高的钻头寿命,适用范围广,具有良好的时效,已成为制造金刚石钻头的重要方法之一。
