Isotta Fraschini is improving its 1300-series internal combustion engine to make it suitable for use on rail-fired EMUs. This is a supplement to the 1700 engines already used in shunting locomotives. 1700 series engine output power of 700 kW ~ 2 600kW, for the new shunting locomotive to provide power or to modify the existing locomotive power plant. The 1300 series engine has so far been used in ships, road vehicles and industrial applications
