水中保持刚性的纸板美国国际造纸公司生产一种潮湿时仍为坚硬的瓦楞纸板,商品名为“苏尔夫一柯尔(Surf—Corr)。它可用于装运鲜货,因为有些货物是在水冷、冰镇或置于潮湿的条件下运输的,通常需装古蜡浸过的瓦楞纸板箱中。Surf—Corr纸板浸透有湿强度高的树脂和防水纤维素胶剂的专门掺合物。然后进一步用热固性树脂配方浸渍和加强。最后用障壁涂料涂覆内外表面。这种新材料能够浸在水中十天以上仍保持其刚性,与同样条件下的蜡浸过的瓦楞纸板相比,坚硬度大三倍,堆集强度大二倍。而且容易利用热熔系统进行自动包装。
