音标教学的时机问题是一个至关重要的问题。新教材中的音标教学更晚,这样的时机显然是不合适的。音标教学的最佳时机应在预备篇第三单元之后,也就是在刚刚学完字母之后进行。这主要是根据学生的年龄、心理特点,英语教学的启蒙阶段,以及英语本身是一种拼音文字的特点所决定的。这样不仅有利于培养学生良好的英语学习习惯,还有利于英语字母的教学。
