特里·伊格尔顿重视审美形式之维对于马克思主义文学批评的美学影响及其理论意义,他从意识形态概念出发,对形式的意识形态性及其马克思主义文学批评在审美形式方面的理论拓展与审美表达机制等问题进行了深入的探究,并对形式主义文学批评的陌生化问题、本体论倾向及其反历史主义色彩进行了反思与批判。通过对形式主义文学批评观念的探索,伊格尔顿在马克思主义批评视野中有效地解决了社会历史批评的“历史决定论”和形式主义批评的“方法论优先权”之间的矛盾,深化了传统的文学社会学研究观念,体现出了马克思主义的社会学诗学的理论视野与启发。
