The flash melting technology, first introduced more than 60 years ago, is now the leading technology for copper sulfide and nickel sulfide melting. The advantages of flash smelting technology, which are energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, high online operating rates, and high efficiency of precious metal recycling, have been evident early in the application and are quickly gaining worldwide acceptance. Flash smelting technology in the history of many years of accumulated a lot of valuable experience, continuous research and development to ensure the leading Flash smelting technology. Currently flash melting technology has become the most advanced and best way of melting. An example of a continuous development of flash smelting technology is a better understanding of the cooling requirements in the process through actual industrial operation and theoretical evaluation. The furnace age requirement of more than 10 years has gradually increased the cooling capacity of the furnace. In addition to strengthening R & D of cooling equipment, the application of modern simulation and modeling tools is accompanied by an increase in basic background to make design faster and more accurate. With the deepening of process knowledge, we have seen significant improvements in furnace conditions in the past few decades. In practice, we gained a lot of valuable information about the overall furnace and process conditions by adding equipment and using modern process control systems. This article will outline some of the fundamentals of flash furnaces related to cooling design and describe modern tools and equipment developed to meet a variety of challenges.
