中国传统文化虽然存在如庄子、韩非子等“反智”思潮,但儒家传统仍以“贵智”为主。正如韦政通所说:“智为孟子的四端之一,在孔子的思想里,智是当仁爱之情在特定情境中表现时,赖以判别的能力。”[1]在孟子看来,智与仁、义等一样,都属于德性概念,所谓“是非之心,人皆有之;是非之心,智之端也。”(《孟子·告子上》)与西方文化的知/智慧不同,儒家传统的“智德”如辨别是非、明理曲直,并不是认识论意义上的个体认知能力,而是一种先验而又具体的道德
