《吕氏春秋·音律篇》中记载有十二律相生的次序和方法,但对生律的次序问题,今人却有着不同的理解和释义,如杨荫浏先生认为是由黄钟先往上生林钟,而陈应时先生却正好相反,认为黄钟往下生林钟。事实上,陈应时先生的理解比较合乎《吕氏春秋》的原貌,不足之处是解释的角度存在着明显失误,而杨荫浏先生的理解尽管可以自圆其说,但得出的结论却不合乎《吕氏春秋》的本意,再现的是汉代以来的十二律。
