新乡市博物馆的大部分文物藏品,是新中国成立初期平原省文管会从豫北几十个市、县征集而来的,所以文物的内容和数量甚为丰富,尤以青铜器、书画、拓片等较为突出,而石造像、木雕佛像、铜铁铸像也很可观,引人注目。今选其中部分佛教造像予以介绍,以飨读者。北魏铜弥勒造像:高31.4厘米,重1115克(图一)。高螺髻,面相清瘦,眉如弯月,秀目小口,双耳下垂。身着交领裂装,手施无畏与愿印,结跏趺于长方束腰须弥座上,宽大的衣裙褶叠垂在座前。后有莲花瓣形背光,中部浮雕圆形莲花项光,其上为三尊饰有火焰纹背
