据考查,在半坡氏族社会,农业生产已经成为当时的经济基础。人们先是用石斧砍倒树木,放火烧掉,开辟出大片空地;再用石铲、石锄平地,松土,除草,然后下种;到了收获季节,就用石刀、陶刀来收割。另据考查,中世纪的开端,欧洲历史进入封建时代,在西罗马帝国的北方和东方,日耳曼人不懂得施肥,在大片土地上松土下种;收割完庄稼后就让土地荒芜起来,再去耕种别的土地,因此需要不断地掠夺土地。如果在今天20世纪90年代,农业生产仍采用这一套经营办法,那就让人难于理解了。然而,当今我们出版业的一些同志却自觉不自觉地在沿袭着这种原始的经营方式,而且愈演愈烈。
