Fifteen years ago, the 19-year-old federal German youth Matisse Rust led his Cessna light single-engine sports plane through the heavily guarded Soviet air defense system, which was considered impeccable at the time, to land in Moscow Red Square. When Rousste, dressed in red overalls, stepped down and smiled shyly at the crowd walking on Red Square, the Soviet Union and the rest of the world were amazed. Subsequently, Rust was sentenced to 4 years in jail for illegally arriving and disrupting aviation order. As a result, the defense ministry of the Soviet Union lost its face and a large number of senior military officials were dismissed for “the Rust events,” including the defense minister. Today, there are still many unsolved mysteries in the “Rust Events.” The Soviet explanation at that time was that Cessna flew too slowly to intercept the Soviet interceptor aircraft. This statement is obviously untenable. Because there is simply no need for several interceptor aircraft to enclose an aircraft driven by flight-only airstrips, warning shots are enough to crush it. One step backward, the Soviet military should not let Rust miss the capital anyway. Over time, many unknown details about the matter surfaced. Now it can be said that the success of Rust’s adventure was actually prompted by a series of coincidences.
