Cookson’s article highlights the problem of abrasive wear performance as a result of hardness test results. This issue is of interest. Because it seems to be very intuitive to control the wear and tear of the surface to increase the hardness. In fact, the term “hardfacing” is used to indicate that the infiltrating treatment is carried out in order to improve the wear resistance, in agreement with the above point of view. A similar conclusion can be drawn from the wear equation derived from a simple model [1].
