From 20 to 22 June 2014, the CONSTRUCTION EXPO 2014 and the second CICES took place in BIMCH center in Colombo.
Sri Lanka is a major export country of rice, rubber, coconut and coffee, and is one of the three biggest tea produce countries. However, due to the destruction of the civil wars, the country’s infrastructure is relatively low. In recent years, the government is planning to increase the investment input by 30%-35%. In addition, the flourishing of the real estate industry further stimulates the demand for aluminum, plastics, concretes, iron and steel, marbles, construction materials, almost all of which rely on import, and this means huge business opportunities for foreign businesses. This year, the exhibition received a total 27,000 visitors in all, among which 7,500 are trade visitors. There are 185 exhibitors in all, including 24 Chinese exhibitors.
According to a post-exhibition survey, the quality and quantity of trade visitors this year, and the overall level of exhibition service gained the approval of exhibitors, and over 90% of Chinese exhibitors were satisfied with the exhibition effect and expressed their intention to participate in the exhibition the following year.
On 19th June, before the exhibition, Qi Zhou, CEO of the organizer of the Chinese exhibition group, Beijing LanSing Century Exhibition Co., Ltd,organized the exhibitors to participate in an one-to-one business forum in Colombo. Officials from local and Chinese gave a very informative introduce of the trade and investment environment of Sri Lanka. 24 Chinese exhibitors matched with about 200 local companies and gained a better understanding of local market.
On 20 and 21 June, Zhou led the Chinese exhibition group to visit a local apartment construction site and local construction material market, so that the exhibitors could gain precise understanding of local market and offer more targeted products.
