Vitis vinifera cell suspension cultures accumulate anthocyanins and stilbenes[l-2].The stilbenes have attracted a great deal of interest, for they may exert a protective effect against atherogenesis through their potent antioxidant properties on human low-density lipoproteins[3].The aim of this study is to develop a multiple elicitor strategy for improving the produc tion of stilbenes, trans-resveratrol and trans-piceid in cell suspension culture of V.vinifera.
