谭派艺术是谭鑫培在诸多不利的先天条件下,通过刻苦勤奋和广采博收形成的一个京剧老生流派,谭鑫培之后形成的老生流派都是在谭派的影响下流变而形成的,谭鑫培的老谭派在京剧老生流派的发展和流变中已绝迹于京剧舞台。但由于谭鑫培开创了“湖广音”和“身段论”的格局构成了京剧四功的基础,直到今天依然应用于京剧的表演艺术中,虽然纯正的老谭派已经绝迹,但老谭派的基因还流淌在京剧老生乃至各个行当的血液中。京剧流派的传承和发展,不能陷入盲目泥古或创新的泥潭,需要在广泛的继承中加以大量的演出实践,并得到观众和同行的认可,京剧流派的发展才能走上健康的探索之路。
