Cadmium halide glass is a new class of infrared optical materials. This article describes CdCl_2-BaCl_2-KCl (NaCl) and CdF_2-BaF_2-CdCl_2. Department of glass synthesis and some properties. These glasses have potential applications in the infrared transmission, the transmission of CO 2 lasers and the fabrication of ultra-low loss optical fibers.
