在金属矿山中、风动凿岩机是很重要的设备之一。在一般情形下,凿岩机使用长久之后,其冲击力就随之降低,即使换上新的活塞,机器仍旧没有劲,于是只好报废。在矿山中属于这类的废品是为数不少的。凿岩机冲击力降低的主要原因,是由于凿岩机汽缸的损坏。因为汽缸虽然具有一定的硬度,但硬度不能过高,否则,其中孔道的加工就会发生困难,而且还会变脆影响质量。但是活塞是直接打击在钎子上的,为了使冲击力直接传到岩石面上,所以要求具有较高的硬度。
