Circular cross-section structural members have become increasingly widespread in recent decades, such as chimneys, water towers, poles, piles, tubular columns, and the like. These structural components can be prefabricated (usually cast by centrifugal methods, such as poles, piles), or cast-in-place (such as chimneys, water tower walls, tubular columns), and are more convenient to use. How to calculate the normal section bearing capacity of the flexural member with annular section? This is the content of this lecture. For ease of explanation, we first describe the calculation of the normal section bearing capacity of an eccentrically compressed annular section.
