With wide broadcasting of vampire themed films and TV series, vampire has regained vitality. The source of vampire can be traced back to ancient Greek and ancient Roma civilization. Vampire primarily appeared in literary works in the eighteenth century. The paper briefly introduced the vampire image in ancient legends, and made a simple lateral comparison, then introduced the development of vampire image after it was connected with Christianity. Then made an arrangement of the literary work created before Dracula was published and focused on the analysis and vertical comparison of three different vampire characters. Find out that the hidden reason of the change of vampire image is actually the weakening of Christian power and the influence of humanism.
