“禁三江带五湖,控蛮荆引瓯越”的“豫章故郡,洪都新府”是隋唐时期的洪州府治所在地,这里人杰地灵,物华天宝,唐代时就有大批土特产品进贡都城长安。《新唐书》105卷《韦坚传》亦载:“若广陵则锦、铜器、官端绫秀……豫章力士瓷饮器、茗铛、釜……船皆尾相衔进,数十里不绝。关中不识连樯挟橹,观者骇异。”经过考古调查发掘与研究,证明上世纪70年代末期发现的丰城罗湖窑址就是唐代洪州窑。后又发现若干窑址,总计达30余处之多。
