根据《英语教学大纲》的要求,大学英语教学目的是“培养学生具有较强的阅读能力,一定的听的能力,初步的写和说的能力……。”这四种能力既是对语言能力的概括,又是对交际能力的综合。《大纲》把培养阅读能力放在首位是符合英语教学实际的,也符合我国大学生的培养目标。然而,在实际教学中,忽视培养提高学生阅读能力的现象很普遍。用传统的教学模式组织教学,教师们都感到虽然用去的时间很多,花费的精力很大,但是,学生的阅读能力没有得到相应的提高。经过研究,存在的问题可归纳为“五重五轻”,即重部分轻整体,重形式轻内容,重接受轻参与,重知识轻能力,重理解轻感受。
