宋任穷(1909-2005),湖南省浏阳县人。1926年加入中国共产主义青年团,同年转入中国共产党。1927年参加秋收起义。抗日战争时期,任八路军一二九师政治部副主任、主任,冀鲁豫军区司令员,中共平原分局代书记。解放战争时期,任中共豫皖苏分局书记兼军区政治委员,华东野战军第三副政治委员。新中国成立后,任中共云南省委书记兼云南军区政治委员,中共中央副秘书长,中国人民解放军总干部部副部长,中共中央组织部部长。1955年被授予上将军衔。1985年在中共中央顾问委员会第五次全体会议上被增选为中央顾问委员会副主任。
