郭沫若,原名开贞,号尚武,1892年11月16日出生于四川乐山县观峨乡沙湾镇。童蒙之时,他就接受了良好的传统文化教育。青年时代,追求资产阶级新学和民主革命思想,积极参加反清反帝的爱国学生运动。1914年,他东渡日本,先学医,后从事文学活动。在1924年以后,接受了马克思主义。同年11月,回国投身革命,参加“五卅”爱国反帝运动、北伐战争和南昌起义。在随起义军南下广东的途中加入中国共产党。大革命失败后,接受中共中央的安排,于1928年再次东渡日本,专心于中国古代社会史的研究。抗日战争爆发后,郭沫若冒着生命危险,抛雏别妻,回到祖国,在中国共产党的领导下,团结和带动国民党统治区的爱国文化力量投入抗日救国和争取民主的伟大斗争,成为国统区新文化运动的旗手。全国解放后,他先后担任政务院副总理、人大常委会副委员长、全国政协副主席、全国文联主席、科学院院长、中国人民保卫世界和平委员会主席等职,全身心地从事国家事务、科学文化教育事业的领导工作和国际交往的社会活动。1978年6月12日辞世。终年86岁。
Guo Moruo, formerly known as Kaeo, No. Shang Wu, was born on November 16, 1892 in Shawan Town, Leshan County, Sichuan Province. When Tong Meng, he accepted a good traditional culture and education. In his youth, he pursued the ideas of bourgeois new school and democratic revolution and took an active part in the patriotic student movement in the anti-imperialist and anti-imperialist years. In 1914, he went to Japan to study medicine first and later engaged in literary activities. After 1924, Marxism was accepted.
