Objective: To explore the correlation between personality and mental health of some recruits in the Second Artillery Corps. Methods: A total of 432 recruits from the Second Artillery Corps were selected randomly. According to the SCL-90 score, 348 patients were negative (≤159) and 84 patients were positive (≥ 160). The 16 personality factors scales (16PF) and SCL-90 were used to evaluate the correlation between them. Results: The scores of group sex, stability, constant and self-discipline in the negative group were significantly or very significantly higher than those in the positive group (P <0.05, P <0.01). The scores of anxiety and stress were significantly lower (P <0.01). The scores of other factors were not significantly different (P> 0.05). In addition to the intelligence and the constant factor scores were not significantly different from the Chinese servicemen (P> 0.05), the scores of sexual factors of recruits were significantly higher than those of Chinese soldiers (P <0.01) Very significantly lower than the norm of Chinese soldiers (P <0.01). The results of Pearson correlation analysis showed that the total score of SCL-90 was significantly or very significantly negatively correlated with the scores of music group, stability, constant, dare, experimental and self-discipline (P <0.05, P <0.01) ; There was a significant or very significant positive correlation with anxiety and stress scores (P <0.05, P <0.01). Conclusion: The personality traits of recruits are significantly correlated with the mental health level, personality traits can affect the mental health of individuals.
