Death is an objective existence that no one can evade and surpass. It has the greatest truth. It is the traditional theme of contemporary Western literature. Thinking about this issue has been entangled with Hemingway. From the very beginning, critics have noticed the theme of death in Hemingway’s novels. According to H.B. Bates, a U.S. critic, “there is actually only one theme of Hemingway - death.” Some critics even refer to Hemingway as “the engineer who made the death”.
