After the successive independence of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in 1990, the development of economic and trade relations between Russia and the three countries has been severely limited by their political relations with each other. The scale of economic and trade cooperation with each other is small and the form of cooperation is single. It is mainly confined to trade in goods and transit transport. In recent years, Russia has increasingly emphasized the principle of integrating economy with politics in the development of economic and trade relations with the three Baltic countries. The smooth development of the economic and trade relations between Russia and the Baltic countries depends to a large extent on the trend of the political relations between Russia and the three countries. Nevertheless, the economic cooperation between Russia and the Baltic countries is of great significance to both sides. Due to the needs of their respective economic interests, together with the mutual influence and disadvantageous factors of various favorable and unfavorable factors, the economic and trade relations between the two sides will continue to develop in contradictions, frictions and coordination.
